Witches are individuals with special powers like ESP, telekinesis, mind control, etc. (not the typical hogwart and newt potions). Robin, a craft user, arrives from Italy to Japan to work for an organization named STN Japan Division (STN-J) as a replacement for one of STN-J's witch hunters who was recently killed. Unlike other divisions of STN, STN-J tries to capture the witches alive in order to learn why and how they became witches in the first place. |

At the very start I didn't like the story very much. It was a typical, cliche and maybe too slow for me. So, we have a misterious witchcraft user who shows us power against the bad guys, and from episode to episode we slowly discover her dark past colored by religion. At first glance, this is what I was thinking about WHR, but I was wrong. This anime is not so typical, actually I didn't wacth any other anime like this, because this show does not have a bunch of overpawered supernatural heroes who can beat everyone and everything on the world. WHR have a subtle storytelling inside the main story. Animation is very "gentle" with a dark colors and ambient. And the most what I liked is the chemistry between the two main characters Robin and Amon. She is young beauty with inocent face and calm personality and He is older, arogant, cold but also and sensitive person. The others characters were not very effective to me, ecept Amon's brother maybe. The end of WHR is interesting, because we don't know where are Robin and Amon, we can only guess. ( show less)

The story starts off VERY slow. You will need to get about midway into the series before it starts to really wake up and become something interesting. I wouldn't suggest this to someone who wants to jump right into a plot or someone who wasn't into a lot of serious dialogue-heavy type shows.
The story reminds me of Ghost in the Shell, but with a semi-religious feel. Not much in the way of humor or action packed scenes.

It was certainly an interesting take on the creation of witchcraft. It sort of fell short for me at the end. I would have liked a better ending to be honest and would have liked to get into the plot a bit sooner than halfway. It really did have some potential of being more than it turned out to be.
My biggest issue was the dialogue. The dialogue was very heavy, which isn't necessarily bad... But many of the conversations consisted of one person talking and then the other person repeating the same thing, but as a question instead. There was a lot of stuff that I guess would have to be read between the lines. This style of repeating dialogue really brought the show down a notch for me. ( show less)

Ugh. "Evil is good" trope making its way into yet another anime. Oh, a nun saying that as long as the demon and the others...
