Witches are individuals with special powers like ESP, telekinesis, mind control, etc. (not the typical hogwart and newt potions). Robin, a craft user, arrives from Italy to Japan to work for an organization named STN Japan Division (STN-J) as a replacement for one of STN-J's witch hunters who was recently killed. Unlike other divisions of STN, STN-J tries to capture the witches alive in order to learn why and how they became witches in the first place. |

The storyline was brilliant, really enjoyed it. It seemed as though the characters are a bit dull in personality at first and in the style of drawing which can annoy some people. What 15 year old dresses like that in that era? Other than that it is worth a watch and viewers would enjoy the mystery and the darkness of the story line.

At the very start I didn't like the story very much. It was a typical, cliche and maybe too slow for me. So, we have a misterious witchcraft user who shows us power against the bad guys, and from episode to episode we slowly discover her dark past colored by religion. At first glance, this is what I was thinking about WHR, but I was wrong. This anime is not so typical, actually I didn't wacth any other anime like this, because this show does not have a bunch of overpawered supernatural heroes who can beat everyone and everything on the world. WHR have a subtle storytelling inside the main story. Animation is very "gentle" with a dark colors and ambient. And the most what I liked is the chemistry between the two main characters Robin and Amon. She is young beauty with inocent face and calm personality and He is older, arogant, cold but also and sensitive person. The others characters were not very effective to me, ecept Amon's brother maybe. The end of WHR is interesting, because we don't know where are Robin and Amon, we can only guess. ( show less)

The story starts off VERY slow. You will need to get about midway into the series before it starts to really wake up and become something interesting. I wouldn't suggest this to someone who wants to jump right into a plot or someone who wasn't into a lot of serious dialogue-heavy type shows.
The story reminds me of Ghost in the Shell, but with a semi-religious feel. Not much in the way of humor or action packed scenes.
It was certainly an interesting take on the creation of witchcraft. It sort of fell short for me at the end. I would have ( read more)

It was certainly an interesting take on the creation of witchcraft. It sort of fell short for me at the end. I would have liked a better ending to be honest and would have liked to get into the plot a bit sooner than halfway. It really did have some potential of being more than it turned out to be.
My biggest issue was the dialogue. The dialogue was very heavy, which isn't necessarily bad... But many of the conversations consisted of one person talking and then the other person repeating the same thing, but as a question instead. There was a lot of stuff that I guess would have to be read between the lines. This style of repeating dialogue really brought the show down a notch for me. ( show less)

This anime shows a more serious side that talks about the mystery of witchcraft in a different light. Many of the witches that the anime depict that devastating powers that help aid in the research of the source of witch craft. Though the story is mysterous it also shows a life of people who don't live the life they want to. If you are interested in an anime that is serious and has some aspects of horrow you'll love this anime!

I love that one, its about a "craft user" Robin, who joins a company to eliminate "bad witches". When they say "witch" its not the usual american idea of "witch", but a beautifully thought and animated form of witch. Its beautiful, women would adore it and also the public who wants soft type of anime with some action. This one was as captivating as Naruto to me. Very interesting, i hoped that they could have continued it.

In brief:
Robin Sena is a "craft user", born in Japan and raised by the Roman Catholic Church in Italy. She is trained to use her craft of fire to hunt down witches. Witchcraft is a genetic trait, dormant within a number of individuals within the human population. Powers can be "awakened" in these dormant human "seeds" at any time, which seems to also drive the awakened witch into various forms of homicidal madness or sociopathy. Trained hunters, craft-users or "seeds" themselves that have not become full witches, are needed to keep watch over "seeds" and hunt those whose abilities become active, serving in secret organizations, such as the parent branch "Solomon" and the "STN-J" branch in Japan, as self-appointed witch police to curtail the use of witchcraft in society, and to keep the witch kind in secret from the public. Even the police, who cooperate with STN-J in abnormal criminal cases, do not know what STN-J does. ( show less)
