The series focuses on the heroine, Hitomi Kanzaki, and her adventures after she is transported to the world of Gaea, a mysterious planet where she can see Earth and its moon in the sky. On Gaea, Earth is known as the Mystic Moon. Hitomi's latent psychic powers are enhanced on Gaea and she quickly becomes embroiled in the conflicts between the Zaibach Empire and the several peaceful countries that surround it. The conflicts are brought about by the Zaibach Empire's quest to revive the legendary power from the ancient city of Atlantis. As the series progresses, many of the characters' pasts and motivations, as well as the history of Atlantis and the true nature of the planet Gaea, are revealed. |

This is a pretty average anime in my opinion, it ain't nothing special nothing lacking. Through some strange incidents a girl ends up in some other world were she help the prince of a small country achieve his destiny and save this other world. Naturally they meat some obstacles and make some new friends witch help them achieve there goals.
That's kind all I can say about this series, if your interested give it a spin.

I watched Escaflone when I was younger, when it was first coming out on TV, I think Kids WB or some other channel like that was doing it. Amusingly, they didn't watch the whole series before they started translating and showing it, and didn't realize that it got rather bloody and violent after that point, and they could no longer show it on a kids channel, despite the earlier episodes making it seem like it might be an appropriate kids show. The plot was a little simple and nonsensical at times, and it took often blurred lines between fantasy and sci-fi, but largely leaned towards fantasy. The visuals were often amazing, and it had many seemingly original ideas, or at least very good ones used which are very rare. I'd say it is worth watching, but while hard to define, it is simple enough that it is understandable by kids, so if you ignore the violence factor, it is more made for younger viewers, and also is rather dark and angst filled and moody at times, so that is something to factor in. Still, it is one of the better and more original anime out there, especially for what was being translated to English in the time period. I'd most likely recommend it to fans of Anne McCaffery's books, as it has some similar styles of characterization and blurry lines between Fantasy and Sci-Fi settings, if a less well developed world and more simplistic plot, and being more dark and moody. this anime is an old one but one of my favorites by a long shot. the animation is beautiful and has a style of its own to say the least. the characters are easy to fall in love with as well as the story. Escaflowne is the anime that started it all for me. this is the anime that got me into anime. it has dragons, romance, action, adventure, giant robot warriors, blood, winged people, suspense, and a bit of comedy. this story will keep you craving for more with each episode. it is a very origianal story except the giant robot idea which seems to be ( read more)

Escaflowne is the anime that started it all for me. this is the anime that got me into anime. it has dragons, romance, action, adventure, giant robot warriors, blood, winged people, suspense, and a bit of comedy. this story will keep you craving for more with each episode. it is a very origianal story except the giant robot idea which seems to be in many animes. besides that it will suprise you. for a 26 episode run it is worth the watch. there is also an escaflowne movie that takes the entire anime and squishes it up into one but don't get the idea that it's the same story. while the movie may be like the tv show in the ways that defines it as escaflowne the story is a bit different. for example, in the movie the heroine is emo along with the protagonist male vaan. in the tv series they're easier to love and the story is better to me. it's vast and makes more since. watch the tv series first i'd advise you because the movie will confuse you. i added this section to the anime list and i'll be uploading the files i have though they aren't hd quality or anything. if anyone has better quality ones please upload them. it'll help the site grow along with helping it's members get the best quality out their of thier favorite hard to find show. sit back and enjoy.
