One the rare kind of films thats made to make you think first and entertain second.

Now this is a strange one, and I can sympathise with the previous comments and points made but disagree with there conclusion.


The Animation is top notch, I love the design even if it seems a little strange at first. and I honestly don't think this film would work without it. same with the sounds and music when its there, while others have complained about the lack of sound I feel its this ecanomical use of it that really draws you in to the deep realitys there creating.

As for the story I'd say this is not something to put on for a quick burst of fun. That said it is enjoyable in its own way while hard to get into I've not found it as impenitrable as other revews sugest, and if you keep your eyes and ears open you get to know whats happening.

This is a movie to be taken as a whole though while your focuse on two main charicters its the over all plot that is the star the people in it are just pupets in more ways than one.

To sum up this is not for casual watching however it still rates on my top list of movies next to and comparable to Schindler's List, I know this is a strange one to put it up agains but this movie is about makeing you think, and about getting a message / feeling across.

I would highly recomend, looks stuning and stands out as something uniqe. (show less)

I don't understand the other critiques I mean to dislike an anime, ok, but saying it's because of the lack of action, no! This movie is NOT a war movie, it may seem like it because the central part of the movie is on a independant flight company who is preparing for war, but the story is way deeper than that it's about the main pilote and nothing else, it's about human condition (in this movie this pilote isn't a normal being), the story is very complexe, and the big thing that might be weird to you is that you don't know what you're looking at until the end we're everything makes sens. Yes the whole time I watch this movie I was kind of lost because I didn't know what was the story but that makes the ambiance of the movie strong ! You may not like it but don't say that it's because it lacks of action :) (show less)

Sky Crawlers? The story is so slow that I went and started to read a book while playing the movie. At some points they dont even talk and theres no ambient music or sound effects, and I thought my headphones were broken, but no, even the movie is so bored with itself that it gets quiet.

Occassionaly, they show you a pretty cool dogfight, but then 5 seconds later they cut back to characters having staring contests with the furniture.

I guess theres something about children fighting a war for companies, but nobody talks about anything important (if at all), so I cant really say anything about it.

On the box they said that this is better than Ghost in the Shell... but thats a lie and this movie is boring as hell. SKIP IT (Shit and I uploaded it). (show less)

I don't know if its safe to call this one a war movie, it has all the elements, but to be honest the "War" as it were.... well its a bad excuse for one.... if possible even worse than "My Big Scary Voice in the sky is different than YOUR Big Scary Voice in the Sky, so DIE DIE DIE".... frankly I didn't think that possible.

As stated before the story is a bit dark, normally that's not so much of a problem, but the world is so crapsack that I took a few points off. It is however not a "action movie" so if your watching it for the express purpose of nonstop nailbiting action.... look somewhere else, this is a thinking movie at its heart.

Dialog is average in this one, not a lot is said, often times this is because not a lot is needed TOO be said, sometimes Excess Dialog just gets in the way.

Art wise its a decent bit of animation, the aerial battles especially are gorgeous and probably the saving point of the film.

I suppose though that this is one of those movies that only needs to be watched once, thought about, and moved on.... is it a way of killing a few hours, possibly, but only if you like your anime to make you think. It could of course always done this better, but then that is often the case (show less)

Truly the worst anime movie ever!
The story may seem good, but dont be fooled. The start of the movie is totally absurd, there aren't almost any dialogue (it seems they talk to each other by telepathy). The only thing decent is the animation itself, there's some cool planes fighting sceens in mid-air, those are good...for the rest----> CRAP!!!
Even at the end you don't understand the most part. There aint any Main Objective in the story. Just a bunch of "kids" with a very very SAD life...

To summarize evrt...don't see this poor excuse of a movie...really, you'll wast 2hours of your life (like i've had :() and it's not whorted! (show less)
