pros
+ highly funny if you approach it from the right angle
+ mystery, action, religion, clichés, comedy, ecchi
+ fairly good animation
cons
- highly perverted with some childish jokes (hey? this ain't for kids)
- storyline stays in the dark, a lot of things are still unexplained
- far from original
conclusion: perverted as heck. not like the summary would leave any doubts about that (not like seikon no qwaser, where you expect mostly badass action and get mostly breasts shoved in your face), but it might be a little hard to get into. ( read more)

(the latter may be a point of criticism as some of the comedy is pretty retarded and would rather fit a kid's sense of humour... in an ecchi anime. -.-). but anyway, for those who expect the perversion, this is probably one of the better around.
peace. ( show less)

as the title of my review says, this anime was decent. but the concepts in it were far from original.
alot of the overall themes of ikaros, and nymph were taken (in my opinion) from DEARS, now im not rightly sure of the publication date of either and i dont care enough to look, just saying there are very definate similarities.
now thats not to say they are bad, on the contrary, i quite enjoyed both series, (im probably a bit F*ed in the head thoug :P ) concepts are about all the two shows share though, the stories couldnt be more diffrent.

where DEARS, kinda pandes to the slice of life, sora no otoshi, takes a little bit of mystery, action, religion, anime steryotype comedy, some chibi (cuz it can), and a whole metric ton or two of ecchi. and mixes it all in a big ol cauldron. and what we get, is sora no otoshimono. i wont claim it to be ground breaking, but its worth the watch. funny & hilarious...too bad it's only 12 episodes long...there are still a lot of things that needs to be explained most specially the "hole in the sky" phenomenon. I'm a bit confused why despite the vast power the people in the other dimension possess that they didn't settle for a full scale invasion. This makes the anime a bit of let down in the story department since more focused was given on the main characters perverse behavior rather on the actual story itself which is the existence of the "beings in the black hole." This is probably the funniest anime I've seen. It was quite ecchi and the story somewhat retarded so its pretty unique. The episodes plot are quite random so you'll never know what to expect from the next one. All in all it was pretty decent.

You're probably thinking that I'm going to give it a bad review based on my title, you're wrong. You don't watch Sora no Otoshimono (Heaven's Lost Property) without expecting it to be extremely perverted. Just look at the pictures and description. They should tell you that the show was going to be perverted. I had to actually watch this to make sure that it contained no extremely perverted scenes. Let's just say that this wouldn't be acceptable for a high school anime club, if your anime club is filled with horn dogs though in college, you might as well hit the jackpot of animes. With extreme boob-age, nudity(Covered only by steam or arms sometimes) and groping women, this anime has proven that everything I thought about it originally was mostly right. They seem to have left out the mild adult themes that are in this anime but I'll let it slide because it is obvious just by watching the first episode.
Story: The story is not bad, I enjoyed watching it despite that most of the events were predictable after watching the first 5 minutes. As Keima from "The World Only God Knows" would say is "I can see the ending." Predicatable events but I dropped my ability of foresight so I could enjoy the anime. But if you look at it, the story is very generic and predictable. I'm okay with this as every story has been done before and their incorporation of angel robotic slaves is different. At least I am assuming they are some sort of angel/robot/cyborg/insert other race to make it even more confusing to what they are. In any case, they say they were manufactured, which makes me believe that they are all androids on some level. The story does have everything that a good story needs and because it doesn't make impossible stronger enemies constantly and poor battle scenes that just show blimps of light across the screen or a lot of yelling, I'm going to be merciful and give the story a average-good rating which I round up to good.
Characters: The characters, some generic in their personalities, were very fun. Some did not stick to the traits that the anime tried to give them such as Eishiro Sugata and Sohara Mitsuki. They were the two that were most generic, I have to say though the others were fairly ungeneric, I did just see another Kosmos though when I was looking at Ikaros, deadly, emotionless, blah blah blah but the fact that she has a different personality later on seperates her from Kosmos, of course I've only played the first game of Xenosaga due to the fact it wasn't a game at all but I digress.
Tomoki Sakurai - He's a pervert plain and simple, why he doesn't take advantage of Ikaros is a mystery that even characters from the show point out. However, he does sort of explain it and this whole good guy bad guy type idea confuses the hell out of me cause he contridicts himself whenever he can. Of course he uses the whole, she has wings to be a reason to not want to do anything to her. Listen, if you are a high school perverted boy and a women with gigantic breasts falls out of the sky and starts saying they'll do whatever you want, do you A) Say okay make me a samich! or B) Have sex with her? I try to deal with his explanation but his explantion is fairly weak. Also he has 3 girls that are all over him during the anime which makes absolutely no sense and can only be perceived as extreme fan service. I'm sorry, I don't care how nice you are, if you try to fondle me or freaken look at my skirt, I'd do more than just comedically hit you. Especially other girls that don't even know who he is, why he was not arrested for his antics is a mystery. He is however, despite his weird personality, a good main character to go with. If he was a tiny bit less perverted, his actions would be more acceptable to me.
Ikaros - Her personality is stale but is voiced well and her personality fits well with an emotionless robot. Despite this, she has the most character development over all the other characters followed by Nymph who places second. I do like character development and they did a good job in making it hard for her to change and do certain things. I hate when they make a character super adaptable and perfect. Her flaws as well as Nymph's flaws really helps give this anime a story.
Nymph: So apparently Alpha (meaning first) is a woman while Beta (meaning second) is a loli. What the hell happened? Obviously the people up in New World like little girls with no breasts. The second angeloid that they introduce is a smart loli.... hmmm I've heard this before.... nevermind. Anyways, Her character develops fairly fast but it's probably because she is more personal. She is quite stupid when it comes to common sense and you'll see what I'm talking about later on when you watch through the whole first season. Despite being an obvious loli for loli fans, she definitely helps with contrast between different angeloids and helps define Ikaros better because of that. Everyone seems to believe that she is just down here to look at stuff on earth. Obviously people would believe the sky was falling if someone told them it was without question in this land. Of course you have the generic I know all character who knows that is not true when she says it.
Sohara Mitsuki - Another really generic character, next door neighbor, friend with the person next door due to the fact he was always around, builds a romantic attachment to the main character, ponytail and violent. Extremely emotional and practically says to the main character I like you but the main character completely snubs her. It doesn't get more generic than that really. She fits the stereotype. I could see this within the first episode that things like this would happen so it is not much of a spoiler that she builds or has a romantic crush on the main character. A bit crazy a times but her character is lovable, just not as interesting as all the other girl characters so she more or less takes a back seat behind all the other girls, including nymph who is introduced later. Of course I'm sure there are fans for her and all over the internet you'll see the TomokixSohara pairing up. It's all a matter of preference but she is getting the back seat and will probably not end up with the main character unless the anime deviates from their course in generic stories. Don't count on it. However, between Nymph, Sohara and Ikaros, they build this friendly love rivalry between each other and the writer spared no expense in trying to make you like each character to make you confused on who he gets at the very end.
Eishiro Sugata - Seriously, I didn't know what the hell he was whether a student/teacher or whatever until later on. With a much older appearance, Eishiro looks like he could be anything really in the anime. The last thing on my mind was thinking he was in the same grade as the main character. Based on where and when he is shown, you constantly see him in his little club room where it is seen as a teacher's office. He wears glasses, he's smart, has silverish hair and is cool. Yeah, he is generic. What does japan have against making blonde haired people with no glasses the smart character? Blonde = stupid = American. He is the commentator during the season at the very beginning who tells you hints on what the episode is going to be about which is nice I guess. Seriously, he's like an adult and he doesn't live with his parents but in a tent... no explanation.
Mikako Satsukitane: A woman who also looks like a grade higher than everyone else but younger than Eishiro. While being the crazy woman in the show, she displays this I'm better than you type attitude. She doesn't have closed eyes which means she isn't a super scary bad ass that's going to make shit real however, she does amazingly have super mafia powers to help her get her way. With no morals, she magically becomes the class president, probably due to fear. Though she is rich, why is she going to the poor school and not the rich private academy next door? Something not explained nor ever will probably. I'll just assume that she was all like I'm better than you and left or some junk and went to a poor school because.... because I have no idea.
Other details. A person's cleavage is everything in this anime. With these magically bouncing breasts, these girls, mind you that we are in Japan right now, all have these wonderful big bouncy breasts that the main character gets high off of. I am also afraid of what the angels actually look like as their face, excluding the mouth is hidden. I feel like they'll have like 3 eyes or a tentacle face should they ever reveal the face. Enough with the characters though.
Dialog: The dialog was fairly good, however, they constantly repeat the same jokes over and over and over and over and over again until you want to just skip over the scene because you're like oh it's this scene again. However, beyond my annoyed at repeating jokes, I can say that the dialog was fairly good. Well the flow was good.
Animation: Animation is fairly good, nice and not still a lot. However, I do have a problem with the constant changing of the main character. I know it is to be funny but when just the main character changes, it confuses the hell out of me because he becomes smaller and only touchable where he now is verses his real body. I am assuming this is some other type of transformation even though it is not. It wouldn't be so bad but as I explained before, they overuse this and just make it annoying. I think the most redeeming quality is that I actually have to watch the credits as each one has a different relevant ending. They also change the ending music each time. This was a pleasant surprise as many anime just show the same ending.
Entertainment: Overall the show is entertaining, the overuse of perverted scenes might have been annoying but I got through them. I think the anime might be a little bit too slow at some points in time and some scenes were not really needed but it turned out to be an enjoyable anime that made me laugh and a bit sad at some points. Overall the anime was surprisingly good. ( show less)
