Summary: Sakai Yuuji, a high school student who expected his normal life to last forever, is dead. When he was on his way home he witnessed a shocking view as the world suddenly froze: people were engulfed by blue flames and a monster resembling a large doll swallowed them. Just as the monster prepared to consume Yuuji, a sword-wielding girl in black attire with flaming red eyes and hair that burns like embers saved him from the monster. The girl called herself a "Flame Haze" who hunts the "Guze no Tomogara", creatures from another world. As Yuuji noticed a blue flame in his chest, she called him a "Torch", a temporary replacement, saying that the "real" Yuuji's existence had already ended. Unfazed, Yuuji befriended the strange girl, named her "Shana", and joined her fight against Tomogara and other Flame Hazes.

In terms of story... well, someone the "Flame Haze" and all other elements are unique, but the character itself is somehow boring.

I've watched this when i heard that it was quite good. But overall, it's not THAT good and sometimes, it feels boring as well.

Shana was just decent, she ain't some "Best character" like most of the fans said she is. And the male was even worse, he can't do a single thing in season one... felt like an ornament for the anime.

Fans, you can rage in any you like but this AIN'T on the best anime list or whatsoever. (read more)

The plot is very original, the story progression seems stable yet the character personalities and interactions are kinda generic though which I think is its only bad point but that depends on how you -the viewer- perceive it. So overall I gave this anime an average rating.

Story (3/5) : A classic story with a fucked up poor to mediocre development, for some reason it was intended for younger people but they added rated R scenes for absolutely no reason. We have a one sided love triangle for romantic viewer and creepy/random looking characters.

Dialogue (3/5) : Shut up Shut up Shut up ! Man Shina can be an annoying brat.

Animation (3/5) : It has nice fighting scene and the art quality is ok

Entertainment (3/5) : I can be exciting at some times because they make great use of dramatic sound.

Overall : For (read more)

Could have been a lot better if the main male lead wasn't a complete coward in every sense of the word. More often then not you'll just be hearing him scream like a little girl at everything. Sure I'd be doing the same in his shoes but I'm not a star to a shonen anime.

I liked it better when it was called "Bleach." A few of the scenes may be slightly different, but the overall concept seems to be the same. Boy sees dead things, Boy meets Girl with Sword, Boy joins Girl to save everything.

With that said, I'll watch a few more eps and hope that some differences crop up. Watch it for yourself and decide. Other than the annoying similarities, it's enjoyable.
