Summary: |
In Tokyo in the year 2020, Sahashi Minato has failed the college entrance exam twice, is awkward around women, and unemployed. One day, Minato meets a girl named Musubi, who literally falls from the sky.
Minato soon learns that she is one of the Sekirei and he is her Ashikabi, a human with special genes that allows them to form a contract with Sekirei. This binds the Sekirei to him and allows them to use their full power in the Sekirei Plan, a dangerous and deadly competition organised by Hiroto Minaka, chairman and founder of the mysterious and powerful MBI Corporation. Minato finds out that being the partner of a beautiful girl is not all fun and games, especially when he discovers that an Ashikabi can have more than one Sekirei partner — and that’s where the real trouble starts. |

Once again it is the characters that keep this series interesting. There are plenty of other anime series from which you'll find yourself drawing comparisons but fortunately each of the characters in this series are distinct and somewhat unique.
The storyline is somewhat better than the first series and advances the plot well. There also seems to be less ecchi-ness which isn't a bad thing. Although I'd still have to drop this into the hentai-lite category with the sexual situations, nudity, and the Kagari character (that kinda weirds me out). ( read more)

Needless to say, I constantly found myself in Tsukiumi's corner wishing she could get more screen time with Sahashi. Of all the sekirei she seems to take the relationship the most seriously and is the most passionate about it all.
This isn't even close to the best anime I've ever seen but the characters held my attention enough to keep watching. Overall a fun series with some good characters and an interesting, if somewhat recycled, plotline. ( show less)

I think most of the problems I had while watching Sekirei Pure Engagement are caused by it being the second season. The story's not as fresh as it first was. The main character has already achieved something and some trumpcards can't be played again without seeming repetitive.
The story hasn't changed much since the last season. Parts of the background story were revealed but that didn't change my perspective on the whole story much. I was sometimes annoyed by the action of the main character and some elements of this series got a bit old.

The animation is still good. Nothing jaw-dropping.
Pure Engagement definitly isn't better than the first season but I hope it's a necessary link between the first and the third season. ( show less)

Fairly standard fair in the way of a single guy with multiple ladies interested in him as he works through his trials. The animation is quite reasonable and I found the story line engaging enough that I would like to see more of this anime and even more background. There is certainly quite a bit of "room" that the producers could continue with the series...and I hope that they do!
