The action was pretty good for anime-turned-live action. The story wasn't exceptional, it was more of an introduction to the series. It was basically a live action movie adaptation of the first seven episodes, which they did a good job of. Also, I really liked the soundtrack, so that's a plus. If you like samurai movies, watch it, if you like Rurouni Kenshin, watch it (but don't expect too much), and if you like blood, watch it.

The story is good. so as the dialogues. But it is more of a super-hero movies than an excelent-samurai movie. The moves and techniques are way too fast for a human being, also a person with a body like Kenshin should rely on his human-high speed and techniques than monsterous strength.
If you have not seen the anime, you probably don't like the movie.
If you have seen the anime, then it fails your expectations.
So if you have watched the anime, don't put much expectations into it and you can enjoy it.

Being a fan of the anime, watching this movie was expected. Was a bit skeptical at first as anime to movie adaptations rarely come out right. But this one barely made it. The fact that it didn't follow the original script was disappointing. The end result was still good but not upto the mark. At times it was a bit slow. The action was good and felt genuine. The actors are very good too. Its quite a good movie for people looking forward to watching the anime. For others, a tad bit disappointing.
Overall, do watch it. :)

It's great that they actually did a live-action movie, you gotta give credit for that!
Non-biased standpoint, this movie wasn't really that good.
Rurouni Kenshin fan, it wasn't really that bad.
Somehow it felt like this movie lacked a good budget and/or director, there was potential for it to become outrageous hit but the movie wasn't paced well, nor was it clarifying, coupled with awkward acting.
The story was pretty expected, for those who knew the anime/manga plot. Nothing to really complain about.

Can't really say anything on the Dialogue as i cannot understand japanese but from the english subs that was available, the dialogue could have been better.
The Animation was excellently done, fight scenes was excellent!
Entertainment on the whole, it didn't really deliver. This was mostly due to the poor pacing and somewhat poor/forceful acting.
Anyone who is a true Kenshin shouldn't miss this one. ( show less)

It's been forever and I'm too tired to go through all the character names and lists so forgive my lacking in that area. Basically for a quick read through and spoilers of the movie.
Everything in a nut shell aside from character introductions like Kaoru, that little kid that trains with her *Yama mahoji or something* This movie is based around the first arc of the anime where the *female doctor* makes Opium for the prick that hires that group of Samurai/Ninja (who are killed by a Machine Gun)as bodyguards that Kenshin fights.

They have other elements and characters from the beginning of the anime and all in all for a live action is wasn't to bad. I wish they would of spent more effort into special effects for Kenshins fight scenes. It feels under budget, but makes up in the historical essence of Japanese . The pace/cast of the characters and overall scenery of the movie is good. So with that said 4/5. Really wish they could find the means to really put in a good solid overall astounding adaption to an anime, like Neon Genesis :D ( show less)
