There were some new adds in this remake, things we didn't watch in the old-classic Rurouni Kenshin. Anyway, it's not as good as the classic, but it was so nice to watch a new Kenshin OVA. Even nowadays, Ruroken is loved and it's popularity is High.

I really wanted to like this, since Rurouni Kenshin was one of the first anime shows that I started watching, and because the X- OVA is still one of my favourites.
There is no suspense, no buildup, and little to no explanation of the story. Sure, the anime quality is definitely higher, but the fight sequences are very dull.
I found myself bored. You probably will too.

An epic remake of one of the most legendary anime series. Although the story lines remain unchanged, some scenes which are originally too long are made brief and made more interesting. The animation quality definitely improve ten folds as it is released more than 10 years after the original series, allowing for vast improvements in the graphics and textures. I highly recommend you to watch it.

Now before i get destroyed by comments regarding this. Basically Rurouni Kenshin Is one of my favorite Animes and I own all the Manga books. I do prefer the Manga To the Anime. Mainly because they did not extend it into Enishi. And No a few Extra animations here or there does not count. I'll break this into 4 points.
Mainly What This OVA is what it says in the description, But done lazily and wrongfully slow.

Story&Dialogue:
As much as I love the original Series they did not Follow that series this time Around. With this Remake, Now i say remake on purpose because it is. therefore it is OK to change some things, When An artist covers a song. They are remaking that song And usually something changes. Now they did not follow the original Story so far to ruin certain individual Climatic parts in the Actual story. SPOILERS ONWARD FOR STORY&DIALOGUE...In which Every character know each other Instead of Acting Dramatic arrivals. Kenshin Tells Misao About the Oniwanban Dying After he originally did, and basically Almost everything being jumbled around. Everything's still There except an unusually unpresent Sanosuke but I digress about that. This has a problem however due to the fact that, there is no dramatic reunion between Kenshin and Kaoru. Kenshin and Sanosuke and others. Which made the story confusing to follow and basically Jumbled. The dialogue seemed very relevant to the characters. And What i liked about It mainly was they elaborated more on Certain Juppoganta That Hadn't been that far like Usui. And Shishio Got laid, Whats not to like about that. My BIGGEST issue With this! is that When Kenshin Got the sword He did not draw the sword and realize it was a sakabato...When He became Battosai it showed he Was on edge and needed to finish his training and that the last sword was a sakabato and that held him as Kenshin for A little longer, It had so much more suspense...but in the OVA it ruined that brilliant moment.
Animation:
Yes, The visuals were superb. The action seems a little bit more fast paced and Looser however. Though more realistic it lost more dramatic edge. SPOILERS ONWARD FOR ANIMATION Like when Cho and Kenshin Fought Kenshin Just sped around Him like a dancing fairy instead of trying o dodge and be cautious. Then when he would use his sword not a high impact hit was made but that of hitting someone With A feather. No impact in the attacks mainly. MY BIGGEST ISSUE with this is...Mainly It has lost Watsukis Artistic Design and created its own Fashion of Animation which i personally dislike. Its like Trying To watch Saiyan Saga DBZ and the new animations they put out, They make Goku look so much smaller than he actually is, and the same with pretty much all the characters minus Gohan.
Entertainment:
Overall it was nice to see the characters Again. I will continue to watch until its over just because i am a dedicated fan and I love the characters and such but it does not compare to The actual Rurouni Kenshin ( show less)

Even though it is a remake....i love it! If u had watched the original 1, this has top notch animation quality compared to the original one,but of course becuz it is done in the 90's. It's like watching the same series again with different time frame which is 21st century!! Fans wont be disappointed XD

Break out those old DVDs, because this OVA expects you to know Rurouni Kenshin inside out, and if you don't things are going to be confusing.
Your basically dropped into the story a couple of episodes into the Kyoto arc of the show and from there it feels like they were trying to cram about 10 half hour episodes into an hour. This is basically Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Abridged, though they rewrite events, it seems to be towards the worse (At least for me, I don't know about you guys).
So if your a long time fan of the series it could worth ( read more)
