When I watched the first episode, I thought I was going to waste my time so I stopped watching. But after being recommended by several others, I decided to watch on, although the animation really put me off. Just watch till episode 3, that's when it gets interesting, or bloody... lol excuse the pun. In essence the main characters "pussy" attitude really puts you off, and she does nothing until the last episode, but the animation itself is very unique and artistic. It is a dark anime, but has a happy? ending, and the fighting scenes are really creative/artistic and entertaining using anything from shadow arts to pastel/crayon paintings. (show less)

Don't let the "Mahou Shoujo" theme fool you. This is quite twisted. And probably a good mindfuck as well. But that is exactly why you should watch it. Plot and story concept is dark and twisted, even if the Mahou Shoujos are suppose to cute and whatever. Its not sugar-coated and I think the story finishes off with a good conclusion.
Its a short 12-episode anime, but context worth its the perfect length. And that also why you should give it a try, at least it wont take too much of your time.
And the sort of Bakemonogatari background illustration style of collages and images makes it a good package as well.

I come across this anime through a magazine and heard that it is really popular in japan. but i'm quite skeptical to watch since it is a magical girl show, you know with transformation and stuff. besides the animation is average since i've seen other anime with more beautiful design characters. but i watch it anyway and turn out it is true to it's hyped and definitely a unique anime that seriously deviate from typical storyline, that worth my watch.

one thing that i didn't quite like is the main lead madoka, because she's kinda in the way and is indecision along the earlier episodes. but at the end she definitely someone to be depend on:) this anime should be one the most popular list here ^^ (show less)

The story itself proved quite interesting, with good overall character development and plot line. The animation gets pretty strange at times when witches appear, but it adds to the overall effect of the series. Madoka does have some pretty good action scenes, but will be focused more on the way the characters react to the situations put in front of them. Above all though, the entire anime was one long line of depressing events that shaped the overwhelming changes in the characters and forced the reader to relate to them. This in turn makes the things they go through all the more depressing when you get to them. This anime definitely ranks on the top 3 most depressing and should only be watched if you think you can handle it. (show less)

I'll make this review short and sweet for those with small attention spans. Like everyone has said, do NOT judge this anime by its cover! Its actually very deep and the concepts in the show aren't really girly at all.

This anime is of a category in which I have never watched before. This anime is literally an "ANYBODY can die" anime. Even the main characters(s) lives are up for grabs. That made each battle MUCH more intense, instead of the usual "They won't/can't die, they're the main characters!"

This anime would have easily made my top 5, if it wasn't for ep 9 and beyond. Without going into spoiler detail, I'll say that past ep 10, they do flashbacks to explain the whole story. This is where it went downhill. As you may see in different animes, it got to the point where the whole balance of the universe is on one person's shoulders. And that's just me simplifying the concept. Its MUCH more confusing and hard to follow.

To sum it up, it turns out that this whole story is just an infinite loop until the very end.. (show less)

Story/Dialogue
It has decent storyline and a bit of funny scene.

Scene
One thing which i agreed with hex is that it DO NOT has any scene showing the female characters' panties, asses or shaking-semi-covered tits.
Something which is stupid to be in anime as this shows that the produces of the anime has to resort to some 'light-hentai' scene to attract audience. If they want to include some of these ecchi scene, might as well they just make it into a hentai for complete exposure. (THIS IS JUST MY OWN OPINION)

Animation/drawings
Great graphics for the buildings and background. The characters are all having a cute faces but i dun like their heads for being drawn bigger than they should be. This makes them all look like little girls which some of them are already adult.

Music
Background musics are good! Once of the background music gives u a mystical and serious feeling. Magia from Kalafina is great when using in some of the action scene.

Overall, it is an decent and nice anime for normal leisure. For those with great demand on standards for different area in an anime then this may not be what you are looking for. Just give it a try to see if it is ur cup of tea, no harm doing it right? =)

So far this anime has actually been quite decent, though its only been 5 episodes. Though it does kind of remind me of sailor moon in how they change cloths (to somewhat cosplay style) in order to use their magic....Feels kind of girly to me but can't quite pinpoint what exactly gives me that feeling. Animation does go really out of whack when they go to the "witch's dimension", is unique but gets some getting used to. Has quite a bit of action and covers more mature subject matter. Also, it does NOT have that somewhat annoying panties in your face every episode which seems to be in a lot of anime these days.............Somewhat slow at the beginning mainly cause they are introducing characters and setting up story. Hopefully the rest will be awesome. (show less)
