I hate to say it, but there's only two things that the Macross/Robotech series does well, and they're flashy battle scenes, and music. The plot almost completely mirrors that of the original; stunt pilot gets wrapped up into battle, employee at a Chinese restaurant becomes an idol, they fight big aliens. Despite this, drama between Ranka and Sherryl, along with the way the anime utilizes emotion and music simply drew me in. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone just out for a good unique plot, but to anyone who loves music, and fighting robots in space; condition is all green. (show less)

I found this anime to be quite good. One thing I definitely liked about this anime was not only the story(which was fantastic)but also characters, who I greatly enjoyed watching as the series progressed. While I wasn't exactly crazy about the singing, I did like it for the originality, considering that not many animes incorporate that sort of thing into the story. The mech fighting was pretty good and added to the action, and the music itself(both that sung by the characters and the background music)was very nice. One of the few things I dislike about the show though, was the 'two girls and one guy' sort of thing, but I have to admit that it really did make things more interesting and added a nice touch of drama/romance, balancing out all the action. Overall I found this to be a great show, worth watching up until the very end. (show less)

The story were really well written even though we all know that they want to find a planet to colonized but got attacked by aliens. In the the end it all wrapped into a nice story. The love triangle, something that happens in all Macross series, are really nice and great. Except that they didn't tell who Alto choose between Ranka or Sheryle. In the first one macross Hikaru choose his flight girl, Macross seven the pink hair girl choose Bazira, Macross plus the pilot choose the older sister. In Macross frontier there wasn't a clear cut ending to the love triangle and who gets who.
Musics are really good and go with the situations. Animations were superb and conflicts are great.
All in all I love this show. Waiting for the movie!!! (show less)

What's it been? 10+ years since macross was first released, I remember watching it as a kid, then as a young adult, and now in my mid 20's this series pays great respect to the macross name and robotech in general.
Art is fantastic they spared no effort, a few reused sections, But not alot as most anime attempt to save time/money and reuse scenes.
Music was top notch as always for this series, I have no complaints, lively, and very beautiful.
Story is awesome, they really increased the depth of this classic ten fold. If your a fan of Robotech you will fully enjoy this! (show less)

I give the story 4 star because the plot kinda plain and throughout the story I found that there are some useless part of the story which make no sense or you could say its better if they didn't air that part. But overall is good and the ending is epic

Dialogue - 3/5
Dialogue kinda plain too like the story and there are only some philosophic term and dialog...The only pro is they are easy to understand but they too are the cons of the show. I would liked it better if they have more twist to the plot

Animation - 5/5
The art is kinda good and the fighting scene is epic(The ending was AWESOME) and the singing part was well made including the movement of little things like the hair and the mouth. Overall is beautiful.

Entertainment - 5/5
I give full mark for the entertainment mainly because of its music and they have one of the most good anime song I've heard. (show less)
