Sorry if I spoil anything. I try not to but I occassionally say something that I shouldn't I hope you find this to be useful and note that I may be critical but I am not saying that I hate the anime, I am merely pointing out things that I notice. I am sorry if you disagree.
Story and Entertainment:
The concept, rather than story is very amusing. A student who is trying to cure himself from being a masochist. I have yet to encounter something such as Masochism being the main subject and it not being some porn driven or ecchi type show. However, that being said, MM! does tend to get a bit perverted with all the fetishes and costumes that are in the show.
Besides the confusing love triangle that is started between the main character and the two girls, the story has no development and most of the episodes can only be thought of as stand alone, minus the first episode. That being said, if we are just talking about each individual episode's concept then I would have to rate most of them between good and average but nothing amazing or excellent about them. Rather, the shows, like most school concept shows have similar jokes, similar events and similar characters. Besides the whole masochism thing, the show really just tends to use the same jokes we have all seen before and thus the entertainment value is pretty low. Integrating other popular mainstream shows in as gags can be effective but the fact is, their choice of mainstream was just waaaaay too overdone in other shows and only brought a slight smile when I saw it.
The point being is that the characters show very similar personalities with some different background stories but fail to bring this show into being any less than slightly above average in entertainment value.
Story - 5/10
Entertainment 6/10
Characters:
Taro Sado - Taro Sado, being the main character and masochist in the show does have a very unusual personality when it comes to fetishes and how he tries to deal with the problem. His main problem is that he is just another victim of the all too common Tsundere relationship with Mio. if any character has a good or rather unique personality, Taro would be at the highest on the list but his whole I act silly but get serious when serious situations occur is far too overdone he instantly becomes this super awesome action life saving hero that is dependable... I haven't seen... oh wait yes I have in many other shows where the main character is a goof ball and then suddenly becomes serious.
Mio Isurugi - Mio is mostly a Tsundere when it comes to her personality. Mio has the obnoxious overdone I hate you but love you type attitude with Sado and it is planly obvious from the intro and from the first episode and onwards. Mio is supposed to be the cute girl in the school and she is very popular but for a reason not explained, she has no friends and no one is in her club at the start of the show. For a girl who has her own damn fanclub, it makes no sense that no one is in her club and she has no friends at the beginning of the show besides Arashiko Yuno. Mio tries to cure Sado from his illness but as a Tsundere, her methods clearly will never work as her attempts just please him rather than cure him which is what the writer went with in every episode. Clearly Mio needs to rethink her strategy as in every attempt to cause pain to him only brought pleasure. You don't keep making the same mistake.
Arashiko Yuno - With a not as overused background, Yuno is deathly afraid of men and being stuck with Sado is just one more reason to attempt to create comedy. Though it was a good concept, the times that Yuno is the main focus of the episode usually just leave you with a sour taste in your mouth as it generally lowers the comedy level. She is supposed to be afraid of boys but yet she has no regrets constantly punching Sado. This is annoying for one reason as this was an attempt for comedy but her reaction to other sub character m(a)en in the show are completely different. Yuno is just that obnoxious girl that you want off stage with her all too overused nice girl shy attitude.
Tatsukichi Hayama - For a background character, Tatsukichi was pretty good. He full filled his role but was ocassionally overly obnoxious when he entered his "alter life" Though the idea was funny at first, they overuse this and kill it by the time you get through the series. Overall though, he was a decent sub character.
Yumi Mamiya - Now here we go again with the quite obvious Yandere in the show. Yumi who is constantly over protective to Yuno just further implied how much Yuno is not a possibility in Sado's future. Yumi is another comedic relief character who is clearly only put in for a Lesbian-like fanservice fetish. The fact is she really had no point in the story besides creating slight comedy and fanservice with Yuno.
Michiru Onigawara - Need I say more that she fits the perverted teacher? Being a sub character, she was was not really amusing to have in the story but I would not say she was unnecessary, she fit her part in the story and created a little comedy in the show with her picture taking and costume design but overall she was more or less just a convient person to say some lines towards Sado when she needed to.
Noa Hiiragi - Smart loli... wow... I really don't think I need to say more on this subject do I? Okay I will. It is overused, boring and pretty annoying. They use many mistaken sexual events with her between sado and more or less just make her that character who seems to be the girl who can create anything and is obsessed with the main character based on one event.
Yukinojō Himura - The event breaker between Sado and Noa. Himura has some important roles but really only when Noa is involved which makes sense. The scenes that he is in which are supposed to reference a certain pop anime did not prove to be very amusing and his loliness was just kinda creepy. More or less, he was required to just end the events with Noa and nothing more.
Shizuka and Tomoko Sado - To add into all the fetishes, we have incest! Yay! And by Yay, I mean sigh. However, I do enjoy their interference in the story and how they never once become serious which is good! I hate when characters like that magically become serious. Generally they were good sub characters to constantly interefere with Taro Sado's life.
Store Manager, Dōmyōji - Finally, at the end there is Domyoji which he proved to be very amusing with his 2d fetish and carrying around his love pillow. He had enough scenes to be funny and he was referenced about as much as he should have been in those episodes.
Do not get me wrong when I criticize these characters. All these characters were essential to make this the comedy that there is and I have no intention of saying that they were poorly made. There were some annoying factors but I can deal with them. As far as characters go, I'd give it a 8/10
Dialogue - The dialog had its ups and its downs. Mostly much of the dialog was fairly similar in the whole story to the point where you could turn the sound and subtitles off and clearly know what the characters were saying after a few episodes they are in. However, the dialog did keep the comedy up and did get me to smile so I would give this a 7.5/10
Animation - The animation is cute which is perfect for an anime like this, the artist clearly knows what he/she is doing when it comes to picking the right type. I really have no major complaints over the animation. 9/10
Overall, the anime was enjoyable and worth rewatching but it is not praiseworthy to the point where you would say, that was a good anime or that was a great anime. You might say it was a good anime but overall, it tends to just fall into being an average anime of this day and age filled with every fetish you could possibly imagine.
