The story begins with a flashback to Feudal Japan, when the half-demon InuYasha raids a human village to steal the Sacred Jewel of Four Souls, a magical jewel that enhances its wielder's powers and can grant a single wish. InuYasha hopes to use the gem to turn himself into a full-blooded demon, but is soon stopped when Kikyo, the young miko of the village, shoots him with a sacred arrow, sealing him onto the sacred tree Goshinboku in the nearby forest. Mortally wounded, Kikyo tells her younger sister, Kaede, to burn the jewel with her body to prevent it from falling into the hands of evil.Kagome emerges into a strange wilderness, initially unaware that she has traveled back through time to the Sengoku period of Japan, fifty years after Kikyo's death. Other than the Bone Eater's Well itself, the only familiar landmark is Goshinboku. She finds InuYasha still sealed onto the tree in an enchanted sleep, and a group of hostile peasants who drag her back to their village. |

At first I wanted to rate it excellent, but then realized that it is far from being excellent. The reason why I love this anime, because of the basic idea, the atmosphere, most of the characters actually have characters, the music and the female characters who really could hold their ground even alone unlike in most similiar type animes, and did not have to be saved by the main hero all the time. And I also like the character developing. (Even if there weren't much.)
The reasons why yet it did not earn the excellent rating are the following: the changing quality of how an episode was drawn freaked me out. Like the first episode was one of the best that I'seen ever drawn, around the twentieth episode there were more which could be only described as ugly. Also, why did not Naraku kill Inuyasha in one go while he stood a chance? It's like he was bored and wanted to make sure that he has some entertaining for the rest of his life.... Also, how that comes that Sesshoumaru couldn't beat Inuyasha, not even once. (Okay, there was one time.) Right, there is the Tessaiga at Inuyasha, but as we could see at their first fight he is far faster than him. Also the fillers. Really, not even Bleach has these kind of dumb fillers, but lucklily they usually do not last for more than three episodes.
Other than that, I can only recommend you to read the manga. In the anime they've changed sooo many things. Also the main character seems to be much dumber in the anime.
