Code Lyoko is about a group of four boarding school students enrolled at Kadic Junior High School: Jeremie Belpois, Odd Della Robbia, Ulrich Stern, and Yumi Ishiyama. The students travel to the virtual world of Lyoko — which is found in a supercomputer housed in the basement of an abandoned factory near the school — to fight against a deadly multi-agent system named XANA and prevent him from taking over the world. In the first season, they also tried to bring a virtual being trapped on Lyoko, Aelita Schaeffer to Earth. |

Amazing cartoon though it took a while to finish because of time available.
Animation wise this has a mix of cartoon like CG and just tradition cartoon animation to represent the two different worlds they are in and also to emphasize the fact that one world is practically the equivalent of entering a massive computer (who hasn't wanted to do that? XD).
Dialogue French or English whichever is good they are exactly the same voice actors (I think) just different languages. As a native English speaker who only knows how to count 1-10 in French ( read more)

Dialogue French or English whichever is good they are exactly the same voice actors (I think) just different languages. As a native English speaker who only knows how to count 1-10 in French I preferred the English version but I liked the opening song "World without Danger" was pretty good in both languages.
Story was not a full 5/5 due to the repetitive feeling of Xana is out doing evil things that affect the real world and they go to Lyoko to fix the problem. So that brought it down a bit in my opinion but however each event is unique and fresh so that was a good thing about it. The length of the anime is a good length allowing the audience to get to know the characters, have the characters develop and also introduction new gadgets and so on. They characters are also a good combination that don't clash or become annoying over a long period of time.
It is a cartoon I'd recommend to anyone with a lot of time to watch all 95 episodes or is planning to watch it over a long period of time. Its for those into action, technology and school life. A good kids cartoon that the male boys would be more interested (obviously) but girls might like it too. ( show less)

What people don't realize is, is that, this show is "not" really anime. This show came from France, not Japan. Also, this anime has at least 95 episodes. I wish someone would upload the rest.

I remember when this used to come on Toonami back in the day. I never did see the end of it. Its about these school students going in this world that I think is called Lyoko ( I forgot) and battling these monsters; all while dealing with daily life. Its pretty generic, but the music and the characters make up for it.
If your getting tired of all this new stuff and want a good classic show to watch, then check this out ASAP. You won't regret it.

Long story short, I fell in love with this anime right off. Sure there were things I questioned.... like how could Xana control a bus that seemed "off the grid" or some other such questions. However, the fact that characters from a virtual world could come to our world (or so it seemed) and that the mystery around those virtual to real-world characters never really got completely answered. There were answers here and there, but they only served to make you want to know more, or make you ask more questions. The writers of this series were masterful ( read more)

However, the fact that characters from a virtual world could come to our world (or so it seemed) and that the mystery around those virtual to real-world characters never really got completely answered. There were answers here and there, but they only served to make you want to know more, or make you ask more questions. The writers of this series were masterful in giving you just enough to keep you interested, yet not enough to make you think that there was little (if anything) that they could do from that point on.
What is more, though I haven't been able to completely confirm it, it seems that a new series called "Code Lyoko: Evolution" is scheduled for 2012. A post I found on ToonZone (http://www.toonzone.net/forums/showthread.php?283038-2012-Code-Lyoko-Evolution) said:
"To all Lyoko-fans,
Today it is a great pleasure to finally confirm that we will be producing a brand new 26 episodes series of: “Code Lyoko Evolution”!!!
Your heroes will come back like you’ve never seen them before!!"
Some may say that Xana had been defeated, and I agree. But as most of us geeks and manga addicts know, a villain can always come back, especially if he/she/it is "electronic". What is to say that Xana did not store bits of himself around the web in such a way as not to be detected and, if those bits weren't "reset" or "updated" by Xana on a regular schedule that they would go and search each other out and reform Xana.
OR, Maybe some company bent on taking over the world found Xana when still in it's infancy stages and made a copy, reprogrammed him so that they can control him and took the absence of Xana as an opportunity to release their version of him.
OR, for that matter, why is Xana the only villain? It could be someone completely different.
In any case, I am happy to see that one of my favorite Animes is making a come back. I just hope they don't destroy it in the sequel as many sequels do. ( show less)
