Summary: The inhabitants of the continent of Cruzon are born with the ability to freely control quartz. Technology based on this power allows them to perform a great multitude of tasks such as shoot projectiles and pilot mobile suits (called Golems in this society). Rygart Arrow is an un-sorcerer, a rare individual who is unable to levitate even the smallest crystal. Living with his brother on a farm, he receives a letter from an old friend, Hodr, the current king. Close companion of the king and queen when they were students at Assam Military School, Arrow is informed that a war is about to occur. Hodr called him because an ancient type of Golem has been found in a mining shaft. No one has been able to move it and queen Sigyn, an expert engineer, suspects that maybe an un-sorcerer might be the key to activate it.

I can’t stress anymore than what previous reviewers have already stressed about this mini-OVA series; it honestly blew me away. I was expecting an original plot-line (especially since it’s a mecha anime) but Production IG NEVER fails to impress me from time to time.

This OVA wasn’t meant to be a new favorite cause honestly… I’m already hooked on Zetsuen no Tempest: Civilian Blaster (and still waiting for more awesome episodes), but I also have the upcoming Shinjeki no Kyojin to look forward to (all of which deliver awesome manga stories). So to unexpectedly come across this jewel of an OVA really makes me happy and quite frankly, I’m not sure why there aren’t more fans of this series.

On to the actual review: the storyline is amazing… I can’t find any other word to describe it. I don’t know if there was another one like it before, but this was a first for me and I loved it. I didn’t read the manga first, but I plan to go back and do just that to see if the story goes any further. I was hooked from the first OVA; as a matter of fact, I watched them all today. Dialogue; again, it kept me hooked for more. There was enough dialogue to keep you informed of the story, and what was going on, but I was satisfied when the fighting started that the main character didn’t talk my ear off with his regrets. I’m still upset I didn’t hear the one sentence I wanted to know the most about… but I won’t put spoilers here. ;)

Animation… I’m at a loss because I don’t want to describe it wrong; simply superb! Not only were the characters and architecture amazing, but when it came to the mechs actually fighting, I can tell someone did their homework! The sound effects made it all the better because it felt so realistic (even for an anime) and I found myself clinging on the cup I was drinking from because I couldn’t keep my eyes away from the fight scenes. The character development was rushed, but if it was a longer series, I would’ve watched it. I’m not sure if that was what the manga writer wanted, but I think more episodes would’ve done the story more justice. There was a lot left unexplained, but I read online somewhere that the story isn’t finished, so maybe they didn’t want to over-lap the story. Just like D Gray Man…

Overall entertainment: I’d watch it again… not sure when cause I like to keep finding more rare jewels like this to watch, but I would certainly watch it more than once and I’m definitely going to make my friends try the out. Download this anime and I’m honestly going to buy the BluRay if I can find it online cause it’s worth it.
