Summary: Jin, a mysterious kid with a halo carved in his hand, and extraordinary fighting skills, lives with his grandfather in a beggar's community. In other place, the old scientist Amagi is searching for professor Kanzaki, to ask him for the whereabouts of the "player" -a kind of genetic altered humans- Zet, which they created some years ago. Soon, Jin and his grandfather are attacked by a mysterious man who turns into a monster. The connection between professor Amagi and professor Kanzaki, seems to connect also young Jin to the mystery of the "players", and Zet.
The story starts off with a face-off between two rival heroes, ZET and ALPHAS, and then traces their origins - Jin Kanzaki, a young man with the ability to transform into a superhuman being known as ZET, and Kouga Amagi, a young man with a strong sense of justice who uses technology to fight as ALPHAS. The fates of these two men and those around them intertwine as they fight to protect mankind and destroy monstrous abominations known as Players, who ironically are the creations of the Amagi Corp.

pros
+ superior animation with nice attention to detail
+ intense fight scenes
+ plays on an ethical dilemma
cons
- characters and their personalities are hard to understand
- rushed release hardly makes viewers able to empathise
- dialogue isn't that great

conclusion: honestly -- if you haven't yet started on the manga and you still see that the anime's release has been rushed, you know there's something wrong. that's exactly what happened to me. started the manga just recently and it's awesome, but this anime is so rushed it's just meh. great concept with the expected darkness to it, playing on deep questions, posing an ethical dilemma, and everything the philosopher needs (lol) -- but the problem with the anime is simply that a time frame of mere 12 episodes does not work for this kind of concept. the story feels rushed, characters are hard to understand and harder to empathise with, and the dialogue isn't anything to get hyped about (okay, neither is it totally in the manga). battles throughout are intense, and the animation is superior with great attention to detail; i'll give it that. however, as much as the manga plays on awesome ideas, in the anime, those don't work simply due to a short time frame. i'd definitely recommend the manga to fans of the darker-themed stuff and some philosophy, but the anime doesn't really seem that great to me personally.

peace.
