Not nearly as good as expected...

I was blown away at the beginning of the anime! It had everything! The outlines of the plot were more than promising, there was a huge number of intriguing characters and it was just waiting to take off!!
But then things started to get out of hand... The highlight of the story (besides the whole end of the world thing) is how everyone is struggling to change their destiny even though they are constantly reminded how their troubles are useless and the outcome is still going to be the same. So you expect to see them trying to outsmart faith and fight to the end..... and that's exactly what they don't do. Everyone is so static! It's like all the good guys do is sit around and wait for something to happen and that's usually when the bad guys go around town and demolish things because they are too bored to do anything else. Because there isn't anything to do! You'd kinda think that something specific needs to be done to save/destroy the planet.
The other thing I found annoying is how characters died. Now this might sound wrong, but do you know that scene in every anime when someone dies tragically in someone else's arms? Well here, everybody dies that way. Everybody! It seems to me that the only emotion packed scenes are the ones when someone dies. And they die all the time. And it's always the same. Always! It's supposed to be sad but it turns out to be ridiculous.
The whole anime turns out that way!
I'm not saying that this anime is awful. It's good, above average! You might even find it exquisite. But to me it's a complete waist of great potential. That is actually the thing that makes me angry the most. So you could watch this. It won't impress you, you'll get annoyed sometimes but it is an alright anime.
