The capital of the empire of Euria is attacked by the empire of Titania, a much more powerful enemy that controls a large part of the galaxy. The story follows a soldier who flees the Titania empire and seeks refuge with the rebellion force, that rose up since the battle.
This is such an excellent anime, indeed balancing perfectly well the 2 sides of the conflict, with no clear good side or bad side, just good character or bad character. Princess Lydia is a very refreshing character who seems somehow out of place in this war-ridden story yet is like a representative of us watchers, but within the anime itself instead. She interacts with other characters but is (almost) never involved in any of the conflicts herself. I was constantly looking forward to her scenes, they're like peaceful breaks from the battles, yet still very relevant. The open ending was a bit of a pity, albeit well done. I have a love-hate relationship with open endings. How i wish there was a 2nd season :(
