Sternbild City is home to people called "Next," who use their special abilities to protect the people as superheroes. These heroes solve cases and save lives so they can wear sponsor logos or acquire "hero points." Their activities are documented on the popular program "Hero TV," which picks the "King of Heroes" in a yearly ranking. The veteran hero Wild Tiger has always preferred to work alone, but now he's been assigned the rookie Barnaby Brooks Jr., who has a different perspective on being a superhero.
This anime doesnt strike as one that is great but it is.
Its story is slow moving at first and tackles a subject that we all enjoy but is severly lacking in anime... Hero-city situation. The story is about a Hero who is fighting to reclaim a lot of his former prestige while he now works with an upcomming hero with a dark past. This contrast between the two characters brings out a commoradery while working with the other characters and opening many twists and turns. I think the thing I love most about the story is how it works. Unlike other anime it doesnt show any signs of first of having a general plot and is more each case independantly showing how the heros resolve the situation. However even though its more life-like in this sense it doesnt lose any potency and actually doest have an overarcing story that comes through overall which I find wonderfuly fantastic.
The dialogue is sharp with every character showing thier skills while not being over the top. I will say at least 3 characters are not your average type of voice and add great deapth to its cast.
animation is solid. Its the detail of each shot that earns it the Excellent rating. I find the suits espically detalied and done excellently well.
Entertainment, well to be honest you have to aproach this one open minded... If your looking for a fast paced thriller you might overlook the masterpeice this is. It has a particular charm that kinda drags you in. Im not saying it isnt action oriented but I think it focuses on building story rather than reling on gimics... and one thing is for certain you will hardly ever guess where the story is going next...
