Is a this the most over-hyped anime in recent history? Probably. I watched Sword Art Online, expecting it to be an interesting portrayal of virtual gaming. Instead, I got this complete mess. The story is full of plot holes and makes very little sense when you consider it. The protagonist, Kirito, is unrealistically perfect and clearly only exists to appeal to teenage girls (So they can find him attractive) or teenage boys (Because he's so perfect they want to be him), and overall very unlikeable. The characters and their actions have very little depth or realism. People act in ways that real people never would, just to make the plot more "exciting". Sword Art Online is only enjoyable to the braindead masses who will watch and enjoy anything like this simply because they want to see what happens next. This series alone is proof of how the anime industry is dying. Anime series with bland character designs and predicable plots are the only anime that become popular nowadays, which is why there are so few creative anime series made nowadays. If you are supporting Sword Art Online, you are supporting the death of true art.
