Kyoko followed her true love and childhood friend Sho to Tokyo so she could help him reach his dream of becoming an idol. She cleans, cooks, works three jobs and does nothing for herself because she loves him so much, but gets nothing in return. Still, she remains by his side. But then one day she goes unannounced to his agency with a delivery, and overhears him talking about her; he reveals to his manager that he only took her with him as a maid, and that he doesn't care for her at all. Upon hearing this, Kyoko doesn't just sit around and cry. She cuts and dyes her hair, changes her clothes and attitude and thus begins her journey to join showbiz and have her revenge against Sho. |

the petition to have them finish this amazing anime!? For once I started watching an anime series without reading the reviews because I'd had it on my must watch list... I made the mistake of glancing over some reviews here about episode 20-21 and reading about the so-called 'cliff hanger' ending.
I must say it's true much to my frustration and chagrin. This is simply an amazing series and to leave it like this is almost criminal. Granted the manga itself is still on-going but surely the anime team could have wrapped it up a bit tighter than this. Hopefully sometime in the not so distant future they will create a second season.
Enough ranting though - this anime in spite of one massive shortcoming is truly a masterpiece. The storyline is interesting and the characters are all unique and hilarious. There's enough comedy to keep it rolling and enough romance to keep you wanting more. Very well done!
Technically the animation isn't all that great although for close-up scenes it can be quite detailed. I enjoyed the first OP and ED but skipped through the second set that was introduced in the last few episodes. Dialog was very clever and I particularly enjoyed the VA for Kyoko done by Marina Inoue - she has a great voice!
Overall just a really great watch and I found myself becoming emotionally attached to the characters. Like Ren's manager Yashiro I really (really) wanted a certain outcome (trying to avoid spoilers here!) and you just know it has to work out that way... guess this was a 'teaser' to the manga and I'll have to pick that up if I want to find out. Dear Kami-sama, please let there be a second season, amen.
THE END
