At the beginning and end Three cosplayers as Amulet Heart, Amulet Spade and Amulet Clover are there to open and end the show. Then it moves on to tell 2 mini-stories featuring the charas. Finally we get to the main story. First there's a new girl. Rikka Hiiragi a new transfer student that though she has no guardian character of her own can see, understand and even collects X-Eggs. Due to everyone but Yaya graduating at the end of the year Tsukasa appears and announces that a new transfer student is being made a Guardian Apprentice. The student is non other than Hikaru. Rikka finds out and begs Amu and Nagihiko to let her be one too. They agree.
The formatting of this season is pretty unique, but not bad. I really enjoyed the special segments fitted in between the two animes. The series doesn't satisfy fans wanting for those past problems to resolve though, and it focuses on a lot more than Amu's relationships. New characters are introduced and they take over and are more prominent in this new series. Nevertheless, it is still a lot of fun to watch.
The new characters are great and they are mostly the ones who contribute to the storyline. Pucchi Puchi is pretty random to say the least, but it'll soon win you over too. The special segments squished in that half hour are not badly done either.
Overall, it is a great watch, pretty decent. However, it sways from Shugo Chara!'s original storyline, so as a continuation, it swerves right off the right road.
