During a fiercely hot summer in Sotoba, a peaceful and quiet village with a population of 1300 people, a series of bizarre deaths begin to occur. At the same time, a strange family moves into a long abandoned mansion in the region. Hospital dean Toshio Ozaki cannot figure out the cause of death in the deceased, initially suspecting an epidemic. As investigations continue between the hospital staff and the residents, it turns out that the village is being attacked by vampires.
It's really exciting! I've never watched such thrilling anime... I was so scared and fascinated, just couldn't help watching all episodes at once... Really really good horror ;]
Animation is superb, although it was my first anime of that kind - at first it was disgusting to see so many detailed corpses, but without that there wouldn't be that athmosphere. It's not as any other series about vampires - that's why it's "Shiki" :). Characters are good, they make you wonder "what would I do in their place?" and answer is not so simply... It also shows the truth about people's temptation to kill as well as about their rights to do that, or to survive.
"God never says a thing." - the conclusion of some character may give you hard time thinking about life itself..
Music also is good, but nothing special in my opinion.
What's the best, the end is just asking for continuation ;) so I'm hoping to see it soon - with Natsuno and Akira especially :)
