~Sigh~ If you've watched Saiunkoku Monogatari, of course, by all means, finish the cake with a cherry on top with this spell-bounding and totally epic sequel. There is a lot of further development in the characters and the storyline stays, if not get's more, seriously intense. But at the same time, it manages to successfully and intelligently keep a very entertaining, and sometimes hilarious atmosphere. The sequel has its own share of important events that will keep you watching all the way till the end.
[From here, there may be SPOILERS] Looking into the details, I was a bit let down by the vague ending that left me hanging on the thought if Ryuuki and Shuurei really got married or not for about a week. I was expecting a bit more of a dramatic blow/impact, but of course my expectations for this awesome classic is ridiculously high, so that's just my opinion. Also, the pace tends to be a bit slower than the first season, to the point that maybe the smaller inner plots were taking a bit too much time/ many episodes to develop and resolve. There were also 3 annoying compilation episodes that basically summarizes all that's happened so far.
The things that happened in this season was definitely a fantastic thing to watch and enjoy, that's for sure. Some new, interesting characters appear later on, and it get's really intense and suspenseful at a couple of points. Also, the emotional factor does not disappoint at all, and it is done FABULOUSLY. Unlike the usual cheesy "Cry" scenes (such as ones most commonly found, it's okay, we all cry at those) that are almost always about death, break ups, death, death, and more death and relationships, etc. (no offense, I love Key animes like Kanon, CLANNAD too, but like those...~shot~) the ones in SaiMono, especially in this season shows an epic and stunning difference. The variety of "Cry" factors are amazing, and truly brilliant. They will truly touch your heart. That shows how much cleverness and emotions goes into this anime that is not just..blah blah blah
I was a bit surprised that they kept the same opening song, but that didn't turn out too bad at the end. I actually learned to love the song, and since the animation changed, it was okay and the new opening with the old song was very pretty and refreshing. This season definitely played with our emotions more despite some gaps in between now and then. That's about it.
I'm hoping to watch the entire SaiMono series ALL OVER AGAIN and maybe over and over.......
