practically everyone known the story of romeo and Juliet, it;s a really romantic story but with a sad ending still you'll love it, for those who don't know the story of romeo and Juliet is originally made from someone called Shakespeare know if i wrote it wrong or right_ this man was specialized in writing romantic novel and he was really good at it, anyway, the story that the original writer wrote was good still this anime is even better, if you haven't yet heard the original story i really recommend it to you to see the anime yet even if you've heard the original story_i heard it and still loved the anime_ it was also recommend it to you either way the story is mixed with emotions and is just perfect if i would explain the story to you it would be a spoiler so i won't say anything but only one thing:

in the original story both romeo and Juliet die and it doesn't change in this anime, they still die...

If you did not like the original then you are not alone.I have no love for the classic tragedy of two teenage "star crossed lovers" trying their very hardest to destroy their own happiness.Seriously,read the story.But, enough of that, on to the anime.

The story is pretty unique, it takes place in a mysterious country.The main characters meet by chance and fall in love with basically the whole world against them.They fight,struggle and try their very hardest to make their relationship work and also try to save the world.If you watch it in English you will notice that the characters constantly switch from modern day English to Shakespeare English, it actually does not deter you from watching it, so give it a chance if it annoys you at first.It's very interesting story and worth watching if you are up for a tragic with a twist. I don’t believe Shakespere’s Romeo and Juliet is even close to being his best or most romantic work but this is the best adaptation of that story I’ve ever seen. I think girls and guys alike will like it. It’s a beautiful blend of action and romance although there isn’t much comedy if that’s your thing. The Seiyuu’s do an amazing job; everyone’s voice fit their character perfectly and the acting (emotions) really came through. I just wish there had been a bit more of Ryotaro Okiayu’s Tybalt. The animation is also top notch- especially at the beginning of the series.

I watched the first six episodes without even realizing it and when deciding to watch just one more I ended up on episode eleven. It’s that good. The only negative thing I can say is that I wasn’t too fond of the Escalus subplot BUT because it didn’t really have much importance until the last 3-4 episodes I can overlook it. (show less)

At the end of this, I cried...and cried...and cried. Tears came to my eyes whenever I thought about it for about a week after I finished watching this. This is an absolutely beautiful and brilliant adaptation (with some creative twists) to William Shakespeare's famous romantic tragedy Romeo & Juliet. Watch this. Really. It's that good.

The characters are really adorable and the bond of love between Romeo and Juliet is stunningly woven and strengthens throughout the series. Interesting supporting characters complete the cast. Even Shakespeare himself is in here as good ol' Willy! This anime has some magnificent scenes that everyone (uhh, maybe not kids under 13 or so) will really enjoy, from blade smashing against blade of action, to really touching and awwwww-worthy romantic scenes, to the great overall animation of the series. The artwork is beautiful.

The soundtrack/music is really well-chosen as well, and Lena Park's sweet but passionate voice dominates this anime at crucial points, including in the awesome opening theme, in both Japanese and English. Other miscellaneous points to notice...the seemingly 3D flags against the everything-else-2D artwork...the innovative add-ins to the original story, including the the pegasi as steeds, the floating land of Neo Verona, and Escalus contributing to the ending. Oh, and by the way, Tybalt is really cute >_<

Overall, I highly, highly, recommend this. It will truly leave a mark in your heart and leave you really touched and amazed. A great way to re-appreciate this lovely work by the genius Shakespeare. (show less)
