Summary: |
Heliopolis, a so-called neutral space colony was holding a top-secret weapons research facility, producing Gundams for the Earth Alliance. ZAFT, which is composed of Coordinators (genetically modified/upgraded humans), attacks Heliopolis, stealing 4 out of the Alliance's 5 Gundams. In the battlefield, civilian Kira Yamato stumbles upon the Strike, the last remaining Gundam of the alliance, and is forced to pilot it. In the midst of battle he encounters his best friend, Athrun Zala, as one of the hijackers of the 5 Gundams, who sides with ZAFT. Being a Coordinator, he is the only one who can pilot the Gundam. But Kira is not with ZAFT, even though they're his own kind, nor the Alliance. Since the Alliance is the only place he could turn to at the time, he sides with them. He pilots the Gundam to protect his friends, and to fight his best friend, which pains both of them. It's a war between individual beliefs. |

Now, I am not a big fan on mechs and future type anime's, but recently I've acquired a taste for them (after watching Space Battle Ship Yamato (2012 remake) which I highly recommend). I've asked for a friend of mine for some recommends on good future/science fiction type anime’s. He gave me Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. My, oh my… was I surprised. It turned out better than just good. The story is placed in the future where man has split in two evolutionary paths, the coordinator (those who genetic engineer themselves to be better) and the naturals (those who are against genetic modification). The two factions are at war with each other and they use giant robots/mechs to fight each other. That is all you need to know about the actual story, dot wana give spoilers. The story and story development set the bar very high, it’s seamless, has no needles distraction and irrelevant stories. It contains mystery, action, romance (to a degree), and moral debates (common in Japanese anime, but that is why we love em so), there is not one boring moment. The characters and character development is just prima, there is no character who is just there for the fun of it. You get to know the character inside and out while at the same time they remain a mystery. The animation suites the anime, the art is both future rustic, clean and elegant. It is just beautiful. The dialogue is full of emotion and moral dilemmas and does not beat around the bush. This anime has thoroughly entertained me. I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of mechs, future, and science fiction type anime. I am now officially hooked to mechs and all it robotic and science fiction splendour. Now, I am not a big fan on mechs and future tipe anime's, but recently I've accuired a tase for them (after watching Space Battle Ship Yamato (2012 remake)). I've asked for a friend of mine for some recomends on good future/scyphi
