Summary:
Based off the manga "Kingdom"
In the Warring States Period of ancient China (475-221 BCE), Shin and Hyou are war-orphans in the kingdom of Qin. They dream of one day proving themselves on the battlefield. One day, however, Hyou is taken to the palace by a minister. Winding up on the losing side of a power-struggle, Hyou manages to return to the village, barely alive. Shin then meets a boy who closely resembles Hyou, Ei Sei. For now he is the king of Qin; later he will become the emperor Shi Huangdi.

Great Anime, Just get past the first nine or so episodes and everything will get better and better. Plus season 2 is on a whole different scale. I have a review there which explains more. This is now one of my top 10 animes. Again if you can get past the first few episodes you most likely won't regret it as I love how everything has evolved and in this case the animation as well. As another said this anime is a true gem. I hope more give it a shot and being a guy who has watch hundreds of animes it's nice to see something new! Has a great story with some interesting philosophy, with even an even better political struggle, leading in to season 2 and grand battles with thousands of soldiers on the field of war. May a general rise to be the greatest under the sun!?
