Gainax is up to it's antiques again, and it seems this time they're more self-aware than ever. I wanted to watch it as objectively as possible, especially since it's Studio Trigger doing the actual animation, but I couldn't help but notice the setting city looks like a drill piercing the heavens, and the crazy almost lazy animations, and all those explosions. Classic Gainax stuff, and they enjoy it.
I've watched up to episode 8. So far as I can tell the super simple revenge tale seems to be introducing many other ideas.
And a lot of sexiness from the MC's outfit. I mean DAMN. Seriously.
I love the show, it's fun to watch. It's from two studios that I love, and it looks like I can look forward to lot's of epicness.
I'm finding it hard to present any further thoughts so I'll just say that I rate it a high 7 or an 8/10. But i'm leaning more to the 7. It isn't a masterpiece or jump-out-of-my-seat amazing, but with the degradation in entertaining anime these days it's a welcome watch.
