Fortunately this seems to be a trend repeating (nods hat at Magi, Labryinth of Magic)
I jumped the gun a little there sorry - what I mean is the concept of seasons, the concept of waiting for what you're adapting to continue in it's story, and to add intrigue, dividing up your episodes into sharply focused slices of stories I.e NO FILLERS.
Hunter hunter had a previous animation that seems to have been erased from most people's memories, so i'll leave it at that and explain why this show is awesome.
It was written in the vein of goku-esque heroes: idiots who are ridiculously strong, and as a classic shounen, it does not dissapoint. It's a wide world to explore (ala one piece) and it's a fun one to delve into, and it's slightly dark, and down right depressing towards the later arcs. Even Freezer makes an appearance if you can believe it (you'll get what I mean.)
I want to discuss every story aspect, but I just love how due to the fact of no fillers you have A LOT of content per episode when you consider it's a shounen. The action scenes are glorious (my favourite being when Gon, The Protagonist, faces off with Hisoka in a tournament, note the time he spins like an aircraft out of control after having his blow parried. didn't it just make your blood rush?)
I tip my hat off to the animators who proved shounen can be a great animation and story experience especially without any fillers to clutter up it's plot. In the case of this show it seems the author has health issues so he's on haitus a lot, so the chapters built up and the animation studio got to pick up a huge amount of unanimated work.
This show, is great. You should watch it.
