What caught me to write this review was the fact that there wasn’t a decent review giving reason to watch Hetalia.
Hetalia is parody of countries of the world. Turning them into anime characters with their own personalities, but still keeping to the traditions of the country it was portraying, which was certainly something I've never come across during my time watching anime.
The story is based on the three main countries, Germany, Italy and Japan, it follows them through history starting off when Germany first made its alliance with Italy (although later in the story they start to focus on other countries). What really got me was the fact that they made history into something entertaining and funny, which is isn't something that can be easily done. The story also was not only amusing but it taught me quite a lot about the history of the world in a light hearted comedy. One problem thou at some point I got confused to who was friends with who. But then again I never really listened during History classes.
The Dialogue was something expected of the characters but it never failed to make me laugh, they also made sure they had the their facts right and when certain quotes were made they gave us a quick explanation for it which helped me understand it more. It wasn’t just rubbish they were dishing out from what I could tell.
The animation was simple but had enough detail to portray emotion well, the colouring and lighting was pleasant and was never once dull, (unless it was supposed to be), the only problem would be that some of the episodes weren’t in HQ.
Entertainment was all there, if it wasn’t how else would I be able to stand watching 53 episodes of something I didn't find interesting, what I also noted was that the characters weren’t overly exaggerated that is was painful, and they all interacted perfectly with each other.
I defiantly recommended this anime, especially to the female audience because of the variety of male characters, and the soft animation. If you get over the fact it can be a bit "out here" at some times and understand this is just something to get people to loosen up and laugh at themselves, and then this is the perfect anime for you to watch.
