This is the remastering of the Hellsing series with polished up action and graphics. They used most of the voice actors from the previous installment of Hellsing. The original Hellsing had a lot of awkward pacing in moving from scene to scene. Compared with the OVA, Hellsing Ultimate paces very fast and goes through a lot of events from the manga. This is a mature series with lots of blood, gore, and sexual references. It is suggested for older audiences.
There's a lot of violence in the series and it's very enjoyable for fans of blood and gun action. In addition to various firearms, there are a variety of characters that use unique weapons to kill each other. It's a also a vampire genre series where vampires remain formidable against helpless humans. Alucard is a vampire serving the Hellsing family and the Hellsing Organization works for the Queen in protecting humans against vampires and ghouls. He is one of those anime characters that remain badass no matter what and carry no weaknesses of any sort. Other characters in Hellsing like Seras and Integra are similar to Alucard. They are strong and absolutely ballistic when it comes to killing ghouls and vampires. Viewers enjoy watching characters pit against each other in overly dramatic fights. The soundtrack is also a highlight to the series because it was composed by Matsuo Hayato who had worked on the previous anime installment only this time he cooperated with the Warsaw Philharmonic. The animation is phenomenal because the action is very crisp and the direction didn't allow for any extraneous pauses. Other than action, the episodes involving the annihilation of the Wild Geese was very saddening.
I enjoyed the series a lot. It doesn't disappoint even though it's very short. Though I would disagree that the ending could have been done better. It seemed to have just slowed down in the end.
