Ohana Matsumae is sent to live with her grandmother, who she has never met nor spoken to, at her Taisho-era (1920s) hot springs inn. It's not a lifestyle that Ohana would have chosen, but she decidesnot to be discouraged and to make the most of her new circumstances.
I at first thought this anime was going to very dull slice of life anime, but that was based on me judging the pictures and reading the synopsis. Although I decided to give the anime a shot anyway. I am glad to see that my judgement toward Hanasaku Iroha were wrong. I think that the synopsis that I read for the show was a false one. The summary on this website accurately describes the show. The animation in this anime is really beautiful especially when it comes to the real big open background shots, very nice lighting and subtle details. The dialogue is rather funny especially when it comes to Ohana's lines, who is the main character in the show. All the characters' lines are fitting for their character and there are very little lines that are unnecessary. This show looks to be a contender for my favorite anime for this season. I highly recommend.
