Summary: |
In Giant Killing a ragtag bunch from East Tokyo are struggling in Japan's top football league. The team is going through an abysmal spell right now where they are nearing the bottom of the table and have lost 5 matches in a row. The loses haven't done much to team moral, because it was already low. Fan support, on the other hand, is looking bleak. In the world of football, once the fans turn on a team the end is near. Teams don't recover. Coaches are fired, players are sold, and teams drop to smaller divisions where profits often prevent them from ever being successful against even mediocre top division programs. East Tokyo United, ETU, can only blame their coach right now. And Coach is ready to give up this next game to prove to his team and fans, that against the biggest club in the nation he can make this team win. |

I came across this anime and I decided to watch the first episode and the first scene got me hooked and the opening is kick-ass! It's great for any soccer-loving fan like me. The story is nice and simple to go along with and the characters a very unique. It sure does entertain me and you just can't quite guess what's going to happen next. The animation is great and it's nice and smooth with a great use of color but the character's noses look a bit weird and pointy which makes them look a bit grouchy and evil. Another thing with the animation is during the soccer matches, they don't seem to show every single movement and sometimes they skip scenes of the match like for example, when one of the soccer players went of to score - they kicked the ball and then the scene kinda froze in it's place and then all you see the next second is that the ball has already gone inside the goal box and it just hit the net. It's like as if the animators got too slack to animate all the action movements. But anyway, lovely anime.
