I first watched this when I was in primary school and so of course I chickened out first episode in (before anything scary happened XD). On the spur of the moment I randomly just picked it up again to see how much horror I could take. Well I LOVED it.
Ok anyone whose read the manga or the light novels and loved them than you'll enjoy the anime just as much. The order of the stories are different and in the anime some of the stories found inside the manga volumes are not found in the anime.
The dialogue is good regardless of which language you watch it in. English dub is available here and I think Jap is too (haven't checked). Though I must for the Australian accent (for English dub, Japanese usually a different dialect/accent of Japanese to do this) was just ridiculous, hardly anyone in Australia has a bogan accent like that. Sometimes makes it hard to take the character seriously...at least from my perspective.
Story wise it consists of a number of stories that last usually over the span of two to three episodes. Or on the rare occasion just one. They vary in horror about one or two of these stories were scary (top being the Bloodstained Labyrinth). They are pretty good though maybe not a good idea to be watching around 12-4am when its still dark outside.
Animation has nothing fantastic. Its all easy to follow and is the usual standard of anime so nothing too bad or too great about it.
I recommend to people in the horror genre, supernatural powers or even just ghosts/youkai/ayakashi (call it what you like). For those looking for a better ending than what is provided I suggest you read the manga which has a more solid ending than the anime.
