Mai Taniyama is an average high school student who is fascinated by ghost stories and the paranormal. After accidentally breaking a camera and getting a man injured, she has to repay her debt by taking a part-time job as assistant to a psychic detective. This spunky 15-year-old goes from telling ghost stories to living one of her own, as the myths and legends she and her friends once enjoyed unravel before her. |

Ghost Hunt was the first horror genre anime I've ever seen, and despite the terror-induced chills that it sent down my spine, I couldn't help but finish every episode, even if I did have to watch it from between my fingers. However, I'm a complete wimp when it comes to anything relatively creepy, so for those of you who like a more traditional or hardcore horror, this is probably more along the lines of a suspense or thriller anime.
The plot moves in such a way that the individual stories, or "cases", can take around two or more episodes to solve the haunting. It is serious at times, but the diverse, quirky ghost hunting team balances it out well. There's even a tiny bit of romance between the characters, but if you're not careful, you'll blink and miss it. If you're looking for an entertaining, spooky story to watch in the middle of the night, I'd defiantly check this out!
