Kobayakawa Sena is a little guy who always get picked on by the bullies in school. Since elementary school, he always play the role of the 'errand boy' to the extent that he has become swift and fast in his movements. Coincidentally, Hiruma Youichi and Kurita Ryukan are looking for a fast running back for their American Football team (Amefuto) and want to put Sena in the team. To hide their new 'star' player from the eyes of other High Schools, Hiruma encases Sena in a Amefuto helmet with a dark visor and name him Eyeshield #21.
eyeshield 21 (football doesn't have to be boring -- and it's not "dangerous-looking rugby" either, lol)

Overall Rating
Excellent
Story: 5
Dialogue: 5
Animation: 3
Entertainment: 5
pros
+ very likable characters with great development
+ good impact and tension
+ very humorous
cons
- rather repetitive due to its length (that ain't exclusively negative... it does keep up its tension and surprising moments but after a while you simply know the pattern)
- hasn't gone as far as the manga does
- animation isn't quite the greatest
conclusion: when i discovered this anime, i didn't know the first thing about football except that it looks similar to rugby but more dangerous. even if you're the same, don't worry, this thing covers the basics even a baby would understand. but i'm beside the point. i've come to love this anime. tension, surprises, drama, comedy, (sports) action. the characters and their development are pure win. you know the story pattern after a while but it's easy to get over that. i still like the manga better as it goes much farther than the anime, but for anyone who likes sports anime, this is still very much recommended.
