Summary: At Shinonome High School a mysterious ancient shrine is discovered which transports student Mizuhara Makoto along with his self-proclaimed rival Jinnai, Jinnai's sister Nanami, and their unorthodox teacher Fujisawa to the strange and beautiful world of El-Hazard. They land in different parts of the world, and become involved in a great conflict as El-Hazard's two great factions: the Roshtaria alliance and the evil Bugrom empire are on the precipice of war.

Ancient ruins are discovered beneath Shinenomi High School. While escaping from an angry school president; Makoto stumbles into the ruins where he meets a strange woman who seems to know him. With the last of her strength she sends him and his friends still on the school grounds to El Hazard.

El Hazard may be my favorite anime of all time. One of the classics of the dimension traveling animes from the 90's El Hazard is unmatched. The artwork is beautiful, the characters are strong and endearing, and the plot is original and beautiful.
