Since i am already a fan of anything Victorian-ish or Faye-ish, I loved this mini series. It combined a Victorian setting with your Roguish, mysterious, handsome guy, and shy, sheltered girl, and (what could have been if it the story hadnt been so smushed) an epic tale. The story tangles up everything from Brownies to Sylphs to the much scarier faye types... I have to say I'd be much happier with it if there were about 50 more episodes :P ..... If you dig the story at all, look up the "light book" series that this is loosely based on - and you will get the fill-in on the story and character depth that 12 episodes could barely touch on . (Its also quite a bit darker , be warned!)
