Summary:
Manji is a crass, violent samurai with a special ability: he cannot die. Cursed with immortality by the nun Yobikuni as punishment for his ruthless deeds, he has grown weary of his ageless life. The only way to lift the curse is to slay 1,000 evil men. So Manji wanders Japan, shedding the blood of the wicked on his quest to finally die.
Blade of the Immortal is a solid series. It has everything I could ever ask for! It's violent, brooding, satirical, and funny.
The characters are so well made that you can easily believe in, sympathize with, root for them.
The animation in this anime is fluid even in fast-paced scenes.
The story will defenitely 'grab' your attention and you simply can't tell what will happen next.
The only bad thing is that 13 episodes are very few for an anime like this. Even given the tendency of anime series to condense the stories to fit in the time allotted for television, the episodes currently available only dramatize about a fourth of the manga story...
Random trivia: Manji notably bears the symbol of a Swastika on his back. In Eastern culture the symbol has a deep spiritual meaning over the common Nazi symbol.
All in all, I think you are loosing big time if you like this kind of anime and still haven't watched it.
