Okay, not sure if this is a reliable review because I haven't seen the previous Aquarion. But the good thing is that to my knowledge this has nothing to do with the previous one. So you don't have to worry if you didn't watch the other one in order to get what's going on in this. So without further-or-do, I would like to begin:
This anime literally is something....it has action, suspense, comedy, mystery, and even fan service, what more coudl you ask? This is a very entertaining show because each episode has something new in store for you. Even if you do predict what would happen, they would always through in some ranomd humor during a serious moment that would make it all better. For an action flick they sure know how to put in the humor, like how in ep 8...not saying what exactly except..."LET'S STRIP TO GAIN POWER!!!" *ahem* man that totally took me off guard and got me laughing through the battle. Even a running gag, whenever the main character gets turned on he apparently starts floating in the air, so its pretty obvious to everyone else whenever he's horny. That said, this show does have some fanservice but they do it tastefully and with humor. A good thing though is that they do both the male and female fan service, so there's enough for everyone ^_^ even fujoshi. I'm not going to say everything why this action show is so funny, you'll have to see for yourself.
Now as for action, despite how much I hate CG (its all in CG)...I can't help but feel excited and cheering on for them in my head as they fight. The basis behind their battle system is that everyone individually pilots their own robot which is sort of useless by itself by by forming teams of 3 they're able to transform and merge their "Aquarions" together to form this massive mecha through a process called "Union". The nice thing is that the teams of 3 constantly change around so there's new mecha's shown throughout the series (even though every ep doesn't have fighting). Even if its just the same 3 people, they can just change the order (who gets to be the head) and they come out with a completely different mecha with different weapons. I guess another thing to look forward to...not sure, is that everyone goes into this orgasmic state of nakedness whenever they merge...apparently because only virgins can pilot these things and the sensation of combining robots feels like sex, so awkward moments when your team is all 3 guys (as my favorite character stated "I'm tired of these sausage fests! Why can't I be with a girl for once?!) ...wow, an entire cast of highschoolers that are virgins...that's like a first in anime. But anyways, I guess I should leave it off with the only issue I have with this series...even though I love and adore the character designs to death, some of these characters that are drawn (mainly with the antagonist) have a completely different drawing style, as if they should belong on another show...oh yeah, both op and end songs are catchy and love the ending art (if you look carefully when he shows up, my fav character "Andy" is actually isn't wearing pants but just tight black boxer shorts and long tied boots...an odd outfit to wear...but still sexy). 0_0 well, hopefully you found this helpful and sorry it was so long, this show deserves a summary this long because you can't sum it all in one sentence ^_^
