I've never understood the allure of anime being in 3D. Most of the time, it is poorly done and the clunkiness of the animation is distracting. Appleseed is a show that would have benefited from being done using traditional animation. This show is from the same creator of Ghost in the Shell and had a great story to tell that was impeded by the type of animation used. An ambitious vision of the future, Appleseed offers us visions beyond Ghost in the Shell. It invites us to think of issues that might affect a futuristic society that has given birth to a sentient species similar to humans.
This movie provided an average cast of characters, a good plot and average music. This would have definitely been rated higher were it not for the distracting type of animation used.
What I LIKE about Appleseed ex Machina:
-Fantastic futuristic vision
-Good voice acting
What I DISLIKE about Appleseed ex Machina:
-Animation
Summary
I would recommend this to fans of science fiction anime and of Ghost in the Shell. Apart from the animation, the plot was slightly above average and the futuristic setting was spectacular.
